singapore flyer

On Friday, the school brought all the sec 3s to the Singapore flyer. I was so excited to see what’s going to happen there. Before going there, I had some things running in my mind. I expected the ride to be very fast. I thought I could see the whole view of Singapore. I thought the ride would be more exhilarating. I was simply greatly looking forward to the ride.

The place was so quiet. When we went inside the lovely greenery scene warmly welcomed us. It was fresh smelling and comfortable. I felt so serene looking at the greenery.

Then the teachers brought us to the flyer. I was exited the most exciting part is when we all suppose to get into the flyer, while it kept on moving. I felt like butterflies flying in my stomach. It was quite scary as it moves higher and higher. The esplanade caught my attention. It was so nice to see the two beautiful porky durians. We had all the time to observe many things because it was almost a 30 minutes ride. That was pretty long I guess. I think the scenery would have looked more beautiful if we had taken the ’flight’ in the evening because it would have a surrounding with beautiful lights glowing in the dark. It will simply look great. Some of the things happen as I expected.

We took the flight with Mrs. Menon. It was quite fun and we all took a group picture together. I think that was a memorable incident.

The trip was really worth going because you really learnt many things. And it was also a very new and beautiful experience. If I get a chance to go to the trip, I will definitely go and enjoy. It was so fun going to the highest point of boarding which was so anticipating. I would definitely recommend the ‘flight’ to my family members as it is a very good chance to enjoy with everyone with beautiful surroundings surrounded around you.

a discussion on your career choice

the career i have chosen is software engineer. i chose this career because it has got to do with computers and it is of my interests. i have always wanted to customise software. In this career i have chosen i need a degree or a diploma in computer science with at least 3 years software development experience in internet technology on Unix, Win NT and LINUX.
Moreover, i need technical skills include proven object- oriented programming experiece with Java and c++ together with extensive RDBMS through JDBC . And finally, experience in J2EE, Web Services, XML and AJA will be advantageous.

what is software engineering?
it simply means the systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, through the medium of sound engineering principles, to the production of computer programs, and to the requirements definition, functional specification, design description, program implementation, and test methods that lead up to this code.

Basically, software engineer means its a person who designs and programs system-level software, such as operating systems, database management systems (DBMSs) and embedded systems. The title is often used for programmers in the software industry who create commercial software packages, whether they be system level or application level. "Software engineer," "systems programmer" and "systems engineer" titles are often synonymous.

different countries have different values of salaries. for example, In Southern California, for 2007, software engineer holding a BSEE or BSCE, non-manager position earns:
Out of school: 60-65 K / year.
3-8 years experience: 75-90K / year.
Principal/Senior: 100 -120K /year.
Expert: 140K /year.
Big companies pay much more than small companies.
An engineer that is expertise in narrow field earn more than one who is a general programmer.
whereas in singapore they are paid lesser.

therefore, i chose software engineering as my career because it has a wider range of job recruitment, highly paid, it matches my interest and its highly needed in future.

Chinese New Year - What Does It Mean To You?

this time round, chinese new year happens to fall on the 7th of february. eventhouh i'm not a chinese, i did celebrate chinese new year in my own way. on chinese new year, my cousins and i went to the beach. although it was chinese new year and many of the chinese people were not there, many of the other races took this as a great opportunity to have fun in the beach. it was very crowded unexpectedly. my cousins and i played in the beach and had alot of fun buliding sand castles eventhough it really doesn't seem to look like a castle. after palying in the sea we did babeque. since we were so hungry after playing and getting wet in the rain. we did barbeque chicken, prawn, marshmallow and stingray.these so called dinner happened during the perid of 6 to 8 pm in the evening.

after celebrating our one day chinese new year we went back home. the following days, i did my homework and studied at home. to me chinese new means a day where i can gather with my cousins since its quite a long holiday and everyone of us can have fun together.

Discuss on Chong Boon Rules

Chong Boon has 3 major categories for school rules. Firstly, the attendance, then, the attire and appearance. firstly, the behaviour.Under attendance, there are a few rules for late coming and truancy. If there are rules there will be consequences to it too. so if students come late to school they will serve pride time. And if pupils don't attend school regularly they will be given a "fair" conduct grade.

Secondly, for the attire and appearance category if pupils don't wear school uniform to school or modify the uniform, the parents will be called and the pupils has to report the following day in proper attire. Then, the boys have to tuck in their executive t-shirt . Futhermore, for the hairstyle, pupils should not dye, tint or highlight their hair. Pupils should not wear any ornaments or jewellery except for a pair of ear-studs for girls.

Finally, for the behaviour, pupils should keep their classrooms and the school clean. food and drink should only be consumed in canteen. electronic devices are not allowed to bring. we have seen the rules and consequences of cong boon.

but have you wondered why are there alot of rules for us to follow? in my point of view, i simply think that without rules in chong boon the students will take advantage and will easily lose control. therfore chong boon has come up with alot of rules just for our sake of well being.
